About Cherry Valley
Cherry Valley Elementary School is located in Polson, Montana, in the northwest corner of the United States. Polson is situated on the southern shores of Flathead Lake, the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi.The Mission Mountains, part of the Continental Divide, form a backdrop to the school. This area is also home to the Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribes of the Flathead Indian Reservation.
The school was built in 1963 and later added to in 1985 and 1990.
This year there are twenty-one certified teachers. In addition, we have a school counselor, nurse, full time librarian, Native American instructor and a speech pathologist. The school also has a large classified staff, with twelve teacher's aides assisting in the classrooms.
There are seven kindergarten classes, seven first grade classes, and two special needs preschools . Average class sizes are 20 for K-1. Cherry Valley has a full time principal. Cherry Valley School has a strong literacy emphasis built around a model outlined in our Literacy Guidelines this model is child centered and designed to meet the individual needs of all of our students.
The school has a strong volunteer program which includes school walking program and parent volunteers who work in the classrooms.
Cherry Valley has a complete library with a collection of children's literature and reference materials. All classrooms contain online computer technology including SMARTBoards, document cameras, and video in each room.
