Math Department
Two credits of math are required for graduation from PHS; however, the math entrance requirements for the Montana University System are: Three years of mathematics which shall include Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2. Students are strongly encouraged to take a math course in their senior year.
Placement in math classes is dependent on student’s success in previous math classes and teacher recommendation. Their success is determined by grades and semester final.
Students who are mathematically talented may wish to take 5 credits of math during their high school career. Those students who want to take Calculus will need to take Geometry and Adv. Algebra 2 concurrently. Students who choose and are accepted to double up will be expected to take math all 4 years of their high school career.
