LEGAL SUMMARY for Loon Lake District #42

Loon Lake District #42 began November 26, 1910. No school was held after 1936-37 and the district consolidated to Big Arm School District #65 on March 19, 1940.

Loon Lake School District #42 Description: The west half of Township 23 N, Range 21 W except Section 4, the north half of Section 5, the northeast quarter of the southwest quarter of Section 5, the north half of the southeast quarter of Section 5, and the southeast quarter of the southeast quarter of Section 5, the north half of the northeast quarter and the north half of the northwest quarter of Section 9, and Sections 30, 31, 32, and 33 of same township and range. The boundaries of District 42 also include Sections 1, 2, 11, 12, and 13 of Township 23, Range 22, the original boundaries having been altered by the creation of Districts 65, 57, and 45.

Boundary transfer to Sunny Slope District 46, March 1, 1911: Sections 13, 14, 15, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27 of Township 23, Range 21.

Boundary transfer to Sunny Slope District 46, February 19, 1914: Sections 10, 11, and 12, Township 23, Range 21.

LEGAL SUMMARY for Big Arm School District #65

The Big Arm School District #65 was created September 1, 1911.

Big Arm School District #65 Description: All of the south part of Township 24, Range 21 W except Sections 30 and 31; also including Sections 1, 2, 3, and 4 of Township 23, Range 21; also the north half of Section 5, same township and range; and also the northeast quarter of the southwest quarter of Section 5 and the north half of the southeast quarter and the southeast quarter of the southeast quarter of Section 5, Township 23, Range 21; and the north half of the northeast quarter and the north half of the northwest quarter of Section 9, Township 23, Range 21.

Annexed to this district by County Superintendent, February 9, 1914: All of Sections 29, 30, 31, 32, of Township 24, Range 20; also Sections 5 and 6, Township 23, Range 20, lands not previously included in any school district.

Annexed to this district by order of County Superintendent, March 4, 1916: Lot 1, Section 24 and Lot 1, Section 25, Township 24 N, Range 21 W of Wild Goose Island.

Consolidated to Polson High School District No. 23, February 23, 1949.

Big Arm School District Description as of December 19, 1961: Beginning at the meander corner between fractional Sections 29 and 30, Township 24 N, Range 21 W, MPM; thence south approximately 2 miles to the southwest corner of Section 32, Township 24 N, Range 21 W; thence west 3 miles; thence south 2 miles; thence east 1 mile to the southeast corner of Section 11, Township 23 N, Range 22 W; thence south mile; thence east 1 mile; thence south 1 mile to the southwest corner of Section 19, Township 23 N, Range 21 W; thence east 1 mile; thence south 1 mile; thence east 2 miles to the southeast corner of Section 28, Township 23 N, Range 21 W; thence north 4 miles; thence east 5 miles to the southeast corner of Section 5, Township 23 N, Range 20 W; thence 1 and a fractional part of a mile to the meander corner between fractional Sections 32 and 33, Township 24 N, Range 20 W; thence along the meander line of Flathead Lake to the point of beginning. District #65 also includes Wild Goose Island, also known as Melita Island. Also included is Dream Isle.
