Special Services

Polson School District makes available special education and related services to all IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) eligible students as well as the GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) eligible students. The purpose of these programs is to provide students what is needed to succeed in school and to reach their indvidual potential.

Students with disabilities receive a wide range of services, including individualized instruction and related services such as speech-language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy and/or transition services. Both the type and the extent of the services a student receives are individually determined based on the educational needs and plan of the student.

The Polson School District recognizes that each student is unique. The Gifted and Talented Program provides identification and opportunities for students to enhance academic skills through a wide variety of approaches to meet their learning needs. Students are provided enrichment and pull-out opportunities to explore and strengthen their unique abilities, talents and interests. An Enrichment Class is available for identified students in grade 6 and an Advance Studies Class is available for identified students in grades 7-12.
