Linderman Gym Updates
Progress Update 4/14/2021
Considering that the Linderman Gym is near completion, this will be the final posted update. Progress continues to be made on the Linderman Gym, including the following:
- All of the flooring has been installed;
- Concrete around the exterior of the building is being poured;
- Exterior siding is about 90% complete;
- Back fencing was installed; and
- Asphalt work for the parkinglot will soon be scheduled

Progress Update 3/3/2021
Progress continues to be made on the Linderman Gym, including the following:
- Exterior siding installation continues;
- Interior wall covering installation is scheduled to be completed this week;
- Door hanging is scheduled to begin this week;
- Flooring on the north hall is scheduled to begin this week;
- Bleachers are scheduled to be delivered this week; and
- The elevator is scheduled to be delivered this week.
Progress Update 2/5/2021
Progress continues to be made on the Linderman Gym, including the following:
- All but one of the windows have been installed;
- Flooring installation has begun in the locker rooms;
- Electrical work is around 80% complete;
- Interior handrails are scheduled to be installed;
- Exterior wall covering installation on the east side of the building is almost complete; and
- The elevator is scheduled to be delivered by the end of February.
Progress Update 1/6/2021
Progress continues to be made on the Linderman Gym, including the following:
- The building is 100% framed out;
- Interior painting is 90% completed;
- The siding on the east side is being installed;
- Basketball hoops have been installed;
- Curtains on the court have been installed;
- Next week more windows and the glass rails are scheduled to be installed; and
- Floor installation is scheduled to begin in two weeks.
Progress update 12/4/2020
Progress continues to be made on the Linderman Gym, including the following:
- Drywall installation should be completed by this week;
- Taping should be completed by this week;
- Painters continue to paint the interior; and
- Lighting has been hung on the high ceiling.
Progress Update 11/13/2020
Progress continues to be made on the Linderman Gym, including the following:
- Gypsum boards are being installed;
- Tapers are taping joints;
- Second floor is being prepped for the painters; and
- Plumbing work is substantially completed.
Progress Update 10/22/2020
Progress continues to be made on the Linderman Gym, including the following:
- Painters are painting the gym ceiling;
- Drywall work has been completed on the second floor;
- Most of the windows were installed this week; and
- Next week, lids and walls are scheduled to be hung.
Progress update 9/9/2020
Progress continues to be made on the Linderman Gym, including the following:
- Upper roof is 100% complete;
- Mid roof is scheduled to be complete this week;
- Sidewalls are scheduled to be completed next week;
- Nail strips continued to be installed; and
- Insulation installation is scheduled to begin this week.
Progress update 9/2/2020
Progress continues to be made on the Linderman Gym, including the following:
- HVAC in the main gym area continues to be installed
- Framing of the mezzanine IT room as well as the electrical room, storage, and radio area has been completed
- Electricians continue installing conduits on the high roof and pulling wire in locker rooms Roofing membrane has begun on the main roof and looks to be about 70% done on that roof
- Nail board continues to be installed around the building and are currently being installed on the west side

Progress Update 8/18/2020
A weekly construction meeting was held on July 18, 2020. During this meeting, the following progress, anticipated progress, and other issues were discussed:
- Rooftop HVAC units have arrived onsite;
- Roofing materials have arrived onsite;
- Electrical rough-in stage is in process;
- Water and sewer mains have been tied in from the road;
- Structural framing is approximately 95% complete; and
- Exterior covering is in process.
Progress Update 8/12/2020
A weekly construction meeting was held on August 12, 2020. During this meeting, the following progress, anticipated progress, and other issues were discussed:
- Framing is continuing this week;
- Ducts are being installed on the high roof;
- Parapets are being installed; and
- Roofers are scheduled to be onsite in September
Progress Update 8/4/2020
A weekly construction meeting was held on August 4, 2020. During this meeting, the following progress, anticipated progress, and other issues were discussed:
- The framing work continues;
- The rest of the roof panels are scheduled to be installed this week;
- HVAC workers are installing ducts; and
- Electricians are scheduled to be onsite to run conduits.
Progress Update 7/29/2020
A weekly construction meeting was held on July 29, 2020. During this meeting, the following progress, anticipated progress, and other issues were discussed:
- The pandecking on the mid and lower roof was completed;
- The roof curves were set;
- The west slab was placed last week;
- The east slab is scheduled to be placed this week;
- The framing work will continue this week; and
- The roofer is scheduled to be onsite during the first week of September.
Progress Update 7/22/2020
A weekly construction meeting was held on July 22, 2020. During this meeting, the following progress, anticipated progress, and other issues were discussed:
- Vault is installed and electrical conduits are in;
- Upper slabs are scheduled to be placed this week;
- HPAC curves scheduled to be installed this week; and
- Framing is scheduled to begin again next week.
Progress Update 7/9/2020
A weekly construction meeting was held on July 9, 2020. During this meeting, the following progress, anticipated progress, and other issues were discussed:
- Pan decking is scheduled to be installed on the roof this week;
- Asphalt is scheduled to be cut this week in order to run utilities out to the road;
- Framers are scheduled to return in a week to continue with framing; and
- COVID-19 cases have increased lately, which may impact construction in the future.
Progress Update 7/1/2020
A weekly construction meeting was held on July 1, 2020. During this meeting, the following progress, anticipated progress, and other issues were discussed:
- The rain slowed progress this week;
- The plumbing on the east side of the gym was completed;
- The plumbing on the west side is scheduled to begin this week;
- Stone decking is scheduled to be installed this week; and
- Angle iron for the roof is scheduled to be installed this week.
Progress Update 6/19/2020
A weekly construction meeting was held on June 19, 2020. During this meeting, the following progress, anticipated progress, and other issues were discussed:
- All of the north walls have been framed up;
- Upper roof joist is scheduled to be installed this week;
- Masons are working on interior walls this week; and
- West locker room slabs are scheduled to be placed next week.
Progress Update 6/3/2020
A weekly construction meeting was held on June 3, 2020. During this meeting, the following progress, anticipated progress, and other issues were discussed:
- Second slab in main entrance and in restrooms was placed;
- The concrete masonry unit on east side was completed;
- Pan decking on high roof is scheduled to begin this week;
- Drains are scheduling to be set this week;
- We are currently in phase Two of COVID-19 protocols; and
- The orientation of the gym will be north/south.
Progress Update 5/27/2020
Another weekly construction meeting was held on May 27, 2020. During this meeting, the following progress, anticipated progress, and other issues were discussed:
- Concrete masonry unit was installed inside bathrooms;
- Last large truss was set on building;
- Construction on interior masonry walls continues;
- Slab preparation is scheduled to begin next week;
- Roof curbs were delivered to the site; and
- Phase Two of COVID-19 protocols begin on June 1st.
Progress Update 5/20/2020
A construction meeting was held on May 20, 2020. During this meeting, progress and anticipated progress, as well as other issues were discussed, including the following:
- Masonry wall with grates was constructed;
- Construction of floor joints is scheduled to begin this week;
- Bar joists are scheduled to be installed this week;
- Slab pouring is scheduled to begin this week;
- Recent rain storms caused some delay in welding;
- Framing is scheduled to begin during the second week of June; and
- Phase Two of COVID-19 protocols begin on June 1st.
Progress Update 5/13/2020
A construction meeting was held on May 13, 2020. During this meeting, progress and anticipated progress, as well as other issues were discussed, including the following:
- Steel construction continues with some delays due to intermittent rain storms;
- A truckload of masonry bricks were delivered this week;
- Rebar that will be used to reinforce the masonry wall is scheduled to be delivered this week;
- Plumbers are scheduled to be on site this week; and
- COVID-19 protocols continue to be followed.
Progress Update 5/6/2020
A construction meeting was held on May 6, 2020. During this meeting, progress and anticipated progress, as well as other issues were discussed, including the following:
- Welders continue to weld on the main steel structure;
- A joist is being added to the top of the structure;
- Masonry work is scheduled to begin next week;
- Concrete forming is scheduled to begin this week;
- Plumbers are scheduled to begin work in two weeks; and
- COVID-19 continues to loom in the background.
Progress Update 4/29/2020
A construction meeting was held on April 29, 2020. During this meeting, progress and anticipated progress, as well as other issues were discussed, including the following:
- Steady progress is being made on the structural steel erection, with the main west girder truss scheduled to be installed this week;
- The stormwater system is currently on hold due to subterranean remnants of the old high school foundation;
- Revised drawings are being drafted to reroute the drain pipping to avoid the foundation remnants;
- The final small footings around the elevator pit have been completed;
- All structural concrete is now in place;
- Masonry work is scheduled to commence during the second week of May; and
- COVID-19 issues continue to loom in the background.
Progress Update 4/22/2020
Another construction meeting was held on April 22, 2020. During this meeting, progress and anticipated progress, as well as other issues were discussed, including the following:
- Structural steel erection, including girders and joist joints, continues to progress;
- One sixty ton crane and one fifty ton crane have been onsite to assist with the structural steel erection;
- The storm drain work continues, but workers have discovered subterranean building remnants. Consequently, the workers will have to dig a spot hole to determine how large the remnants are and whether or not they will impact the placement of the drainage pipes; and
- COVID-19 continues to impact overall construction progress.
Progress Update 4/15/2020
Another construction meeting was held on April 15, 2020. During this meeting, progress and anticipated progress, as well as other issues were discussed, including the following:
- All of the structural steel has been delivered to the worksite;
- Structural steel erection is underway, with the main steel construction projected to take about a month to complete;
- There is a lot of heavy machinery traffic onsite due to the steel construction;
- The mason work is around three to four weeks out due to COVID-19 travel restrictions for out-of-state workers;
- Covid-19 precautions continued to be adhered to, such as distancing protocols, cleaning and disinfectant spraying of tools and equipment, and hand wash stations;
- COVID-19 continues to cause many unknowns and uncertainties.
Progress Update 4/9/2020
Another construction meeting was held on April 9, 2020. During this meeting, progress and anticipated progress, as well as other issues were discussed, including the following:
- Covid-19 precautions are in place at the building site with Swank, including distancing protocols, cleaning and disinfectant spraying of tools and equipment, and hand wash stations;
- Some of the construction companies and crew are located out-of-state, which may cause delays due to COVID-19 safety measures and restrictions;
- The concrete elevator pit was poured, and is ready for backfill;
- Digging for the stormwater system has begun;
- The six to seven truckloads of structural steel are still scheduled to be delivered to the building site on April 13th and 14th; and
- Additional large equipment has been moved onsite in preparation for the steel construction.
Progress Update 4/3/2020
A construction meeting was held on April 1, 2020. During this meeting, progress and anticipated progress, as well as other issues were discussed, including the following:
- Construction progress continues on a somewhat limited basis due to the COVID-19 virus and social distancing protocols;
- Concrete elevator pit walls are scheduled to be poured this week, weather permitting;
- The stormwater retention construction is scheduled to begin this week, weather permitting;
- Six to seven truckloads of structural steel are scheduled to be delivered to the building site on April 13th and 14th; and
- The construction team is constantly monitoring the ever changing COVID-19 situation and guidelines, and adapting as necessary.

Linderman Gym Project Update
Friday, February 22, 2019
Polson School District and Travelers Insurance have come to an agreement to replace the 1940 era Linderman Gym Facility due the building's compromised structural integrity caused by a weather event in January 2018. Travelers will fund the construction of a new "like kind" gym at the current site.
Polson School District will initiate the procurement of architectural and engineering services to begin the design and development phase of this project.
